Dodge is exploring the possibility of launching a new police version of the Charger sedan. Brand CEO Matt McAlyre revealed this during the presentation of the new Charger R/T.

According to McAlyre, the company is "actively discussing" the project with several law enforcement agencies. While official development confirmation is still pending, Dodge is investigating the feasibility of creating a new patrol vehicle based on the latest generation Charger.

From 2006, Dodge produced a special Charger Pursuit version for police use. It was equipped with either a 3.6-liter V6 or a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 gasoline engine. Production of this model ended alongside the previous Charger generation in 2023.

The new sedan generation could serve as the foundation for a future service version. The car has grown larger and features a significantly more spacious interior. Trunk volume has increased by 127%, with more headroom and shoulder room for passengers as well.

Performance-wise, the model has also become more powerful. The new Charger R/T delivers 420 horsepower and 460 Nm of torque, whereas previous versions with the Hemi V8 engine produced 375 horsepower and 536 Nm. Additionally, modern Chargers come with all-wheel drive.

Today, many police departments use SUVs, yet interest in powerful sedans persists. In this context, the new model could join the roster of vehicles used for high-speed pursuits on roads and highways.
