Corvette E-Ray hybrid competes for World Performance Car 2026

Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray hybrid sports car is a top three finalist for World Performance Car 2026, competing against BMW M2 CS and Hyundai Ioniq 6 N. Winner announced April 1 at New York Auto Show.

The hybrid sports car Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray has made the shortlist for the World Performance Car 2026 award, placing among the top three finalists. The winner will be announced at the New York International Auto Show. A panel of 98 automotive journalists from 33 countries selected the finalists. In the sports car category, the Corvette E-Ray will compete against the BMW M2 CS and the electric sedan Hyundai Ioniq 6 N.

This marks the first electrified version of the legendary Corvette. The model features a 6.2-liter V8 LT2 gasoline engine paired with an electric motor on the front axle. This setup gives the car all-wheel drive while blending traditional internal combustion with electric assistance.

According to the award organizers, the finalist lineup reflects the evolution of modern technology and diverse approaches to building high-performance vehicles. The competition includes a classic rear-wheel-drive sports car, a fully electric model, and a hybrid system.

A category win would be a significant milestone for the Corvette team, as the award is widely regarded as one of the most prestigious in the global automotive industry. The winner will be revealed on April 1.
