Kia EV5 adds all-wheel drive and GT version for more power and versatility
Kia introduces AWD versions and a sporty GT variant for the EV5 compact SUV, offering up to 306 hp, 476 km range, and advanced features like adaptive suspension and fast charging.
Kia is expanding its lineup for the electric compact SUV EV5 by introducing all-wheel-drive versions and a new sporty GT variant. Previously offered only with front-wheel drive, the model now includes the Earth AWD and GT-Line AWD, both producing 265 horsepower, as well as the flagship EV5 GT with dual electric motors.
The GT version delivers 306 horsepower and 480 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds and reaching a top speed of 180 km/h. It offers a range of 476 km according to WLTP standards, with an 81.4 kWh battery that supports fast charging from 10 to 80% in about 30 minutes. In contrast, the more civilian AWD versions provide up to 491 km of range and a 0-100 km/h time of 7.3 seconds.
The EV5 GT features an adaptive suspension with a Road Preview system, a virtual gear-shift simulation, and a sporty interior with neon accents. Standard equipment includes ventilated and massaging seats, a heads-up display, a premium audio system, V2L functionality, and an advanced driver-assistance package. Overall, the addition of all-wheel-drive options and the sporty GT model makes the Kia EV5 a more versatile contender in the electric crossover segment.
