2025 global automaker sales rankings and analysis

Explore the 2025 global automaker rankings: Toyota leads with 10.32M vehicles sold, while Chinese brands BYD, SAIC, and Geely show impressive growth in the top 10.

The final ranking of global automakers for 2025 has been published, with the complete dataset becoming available following the release of the Stellantis Group's financial report.

Toyota remains the leader, having sold 10.32 million vehicles, which represents a 4.65% increase. Volkswagen follows with 8.98 million units, a slight decline of 0.51%. Hyundai Motor comes next at 7.27 million, up 0.60%, while General Motors posted 6.18 million, a 3.03% gain. Stellantis takes fifth place with 5.48 million vehicles sold, marking a 1.27% rise.

The standout story of the year is the continued rise of Chinese manufacturers. Three brands now feature in the top ten: BYD at 4.60 million units, a 7.72% increase; SAIC at 4.51 million, surging 12.33%; and Geely at 4.12 million, which soared by an impressive 26.03%. This growth rate makes Geely one of the industry's fastest-growing companies, bringing it close to Ford's 4.40 million units, which saw a 1.68% dip.

Honda rounds out the top ten with 3.52 million vehicles sold, a decrease of 7.53%.

Overall, the 2025 results confirm Chinese automakers as firmly established global leaders, signaling that the competitive landscape of the automotive industry continues to evolve.
