Tesla's moon factory and robotics boost investor confidence

Elon Musk announces Tesla could build a lunar production facility in 20 years, while expanding Optimus robot production to 1 million units annually.

Elon Musk has made another ambitious claim, announcing that Tesla could build a production facility on the Moon within the next 20 years. He shared this in an interview with the head of the Giga Berlin factory, emphasizing that investors should maintain long-term faith in the company.

Musk stated that he sees Tesla's future as exceptionally bright and is confident in the high long-term value of its stock. The idea of lunar production is not new; he previously discussed establishing factories on Earth's satellite to produce satellites and host AI data centers using electromagnetic launch technologies.

At the same time, Tesla is ramping up its robotics strategy. The company is retooling its Fremont factory to produce Optimus humanoid robots, aiming to reach an annual production volume of one million units. Musk also links the project's future to the concept of autonomous self-replicating systems.

Against this backdrop, the automotive division faces pressure: in January, Tesla's sales in Europe fell by 17%, and its market share dropped to 0.8%. Statements about space prospects and robotics appear to be part of a strategy to bolster investor confidence amid volatility in the core business.
