Volga denies ties with Geely, outlines independent development plans

Russian car brand Volga refutes claims of rebadging Geely models, stating no direct agreements exist. Learn about its independent strategy and legal status.

The new Russian car brand VOLGA is not working with the Chinese company Geely. Tatiana Fadeeva, head of the brand and of JSC "Production of Passenger Cars," stated this.

She explained that there are no direct or indirect agreements between the companies. In this way, VOLGA attempted to refute claims about releasing rebadged Geely models under the Russian brand.

Fadeeva noted that when developing the new brand's concept, the company analyzed the experience of leading Chinese manufacturers in the top 10 for domestic and international markets. This allowed them to identify promising technical and design solutions for future in-house developments.

The leader also emphasized that legally, the VOLGA brand is not connected to the Gorky Automobile Plant and belongs to JSC "Production of Passenger Cars."

This comes despite undeniable facts about cooperation with Geely. But apparently, the new brand has decided to adopt AvtoVAZ's habit of denying obvious facts.
