Opel Corsa GSE electric sports version details

Opel Corsa GSE electric sports hatch with 276 hp, under 6 seconds to 100 km/h, 340 km WLTP range, priced around €45,000, on sale end of 2026.

Opel has released the first official details of the Corsa GSE, an electric sports version positioned as the spiritual successor to the legendary OPC/VXR models. Based on the current-generation Corsa, it shares its platform with the Mokka GSE and the Peugeot E-208 GTi. While an all-new Corsa generation is due in 2027, the GSE variant is set to go on sale by the end of 2026.

At its heart is a 276-horsepower electric motor driving the front wheels. This is a significant step up from the previous petrol OPC's 211 hp, placing it among Europe's most powerful compact EVs. Preliminary acceleration to 100 km/h is under six seconds. To handle the increased load on the front axle, Opel will equip the GSE with a reinforced sports suspension, a more powerful braking system, and a limited-slip differential.

Visually, the model stands out with unique wheels, different body cladding, sport seats, and styling cues from the Mokka GSE. A 54 kWh battery promises around 340 km on the WLTP cycle, though real-world range is likely closer to 290 km—still ample for a spirited urban hot hatch.

The expected price is around €45,000, placing it below the Mokka GSE but above the standard Corsa. Opel hopes the refreshed GSE lineup will restore an emotional edge to the brand, something the previous Grandland GSE and Astra GSE were seen to lack. Overall, the Corsa GSE emerges as a competitor to the 220-hp Alpine A290, offering more power at a comparable price point.
