Xpeng launches Land Carrier, a modular flying car EV
Xpeng begins mass production of the Land Carrier flying car: a modular EV with road and air units, autonomous control, and deliveries planned for 2026.
Xpeng Motors has edged into the future by launching its first mass-production line for flying cars. At the Aridge subsidiary in Guangzhou, the company has begun building the Land Carrier, a machine that blends an electric vehicle with a drone. The development was reported on November 3 by SPEEDME.RU, citing the Xinhua news agency.
The Land Carrier is split into two modules: one for the road and one for the air. The ground EV rides on six wheels, uses all-wheel drive and rear-axle steering, while the flight unit is a carbon-fiber structure with six rotors. Despite its 5.5-meter length and 2-meter width, the vehicle can still slot into standard parking spaces. Control is either via a manual joystick or in fully autonomous mode, with route planning and automatic landing available. The setup reads as more than a showpiece, with practicality clearly baked into the concept.
The production complex spans 120,000 square meters and includes five shops, from composites to final assembly. It is engineered for up to 10,000 units a year, with a new example leaving the line every 30 minutes. For an emerging category, that cadence suggests serious industrial intent.
The first Xpeng Land Carrier will be tested this year, with series deliveries planned for 2026. The project is positioned as a major stride toward personal air mobility and is set to strengthen Xpeng’s standing in innovative transportation, a signal that the company aims to turn a bold idea into a real, usable product.
