Tesla Cybertruck's FSD system saves driver in medical emergency

Tesla Cybertruck owner's medical emergency leads to unconsciousness while driving; FSD Supervised detects issue, safely pulls over, and prevents accident. Learn how Tesla's technology enhances safety.

Tesla Cybertruck owner Rishi Vohra reported that the Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised system helped prevent an accident during a medical emergency on a highway. He explained that he had unintentionally fasted for 17 hours, taken medication, and experienced a severe allergic reaction, which caused him to lose consciousness while driving.

At the time of the incident, FSD Supervised was active in the vehicle. The driver monitoring system detected the loss of consciousness, prompting the pickup to slow down, activate its hazard lights, and safely pull over to the shoulder. No collision occurred.

His wife, noticing silence during a phone call, used the Life360 service to alert emergency responders. Medical personnel arrived in about five minutes. After receiving assistance, the Cybertruck autonomously resumed driving and took the owner to an emergency department.

Vohra later announced his discharge from the hospital and expressed gratitude to Tesla and Elon Musk. The company's CEO responded with words of support.

According to Tesla's North American data, vehicles with FSD Supervised activated record one serious accident per 8.5 million kilometers, compared to the U.S. average of one accident per 1.06 million kilometers.
