Volga announces 2026 sales start for SUVs and sedan

Volga brand starts sales in 2026 with D-SUV, C-SUV, and sedan models. Production in Nizhny Novgorod aims for 110,000 vehicles yearly, featuring winter packages and modern tech.

The Volga brand has announced it will begin sales in the third quarter of 2026. Production will take place at a facility in Nizhny Novgorod that previously manufactured Skoda and Volkswagen models. The lineup will include D-SUV and C-SUV crossovers, along with a D-segment sedan.

The project is being implemented by AO "Production of Passenger Cars." The company states that production will start in the second quarter of 2026, with the plant's maximum capacity reaching up to 110,000 vehicles per year. Developers have analyzed technologies from leading Chinese automakers to adopt the most promising solutions and eventually create their own models using a local component base.

Base versions of Volga cars will come with an enhanced winter package, a set of driver assistance systems, and interior trim featuring natural materials. In the 2026 automotive market, the strategy focuses on combining modern technology with adaptations to Russian climatic conditions.

Volga's success will depend on the actual level of localization and pricing policy. Reviving the historic name is a strong marketing move, but the key factor will be the models' competitiveness in the crowded crossover segment.
