Porsche Cayenne Electric battery production and key features

Learn about Porsche's in-house battery production for the Cayenne Electric, including specs like 1,156 hp, 600 km range, and 800-volt charging.

Porsche is tightening its control over battery production for the new Cayenne Electric. Following quality issues during the early production phase of the Taycan, the company has decided to increase its share of in-house assembly. Modular production is organized at the Porsche Werkzeugbau facility in Horná Streda, Slovakia. Operating in two shifts, 150 employees and 370 robots can produce up to 132 modules per hour.

One Cayenne battery pack consists of six modules, which theoretically allows for equipping up to 352 vehicles per day. The final battery assembly, including the power electronics, is handled by Webasto near Bratislava, with the electronics supplied by Marquardt from Germany. From the start of factory construction in 2023 to the production of the first module, 18 months passed.

The battery is integrated into the body's load-bearing structure and also serves a safety function. According to Porsche management, where expertise exists, the company prefers to maintain control over key technologies.

The Cayenne Electric was officially discussed in November 2025. The Turbo version develops up to 850 kW (1,156 hp), making it the most powerful series-production Porsche. The 113 kWh battery provides a range of over 600 km according to WLTP and supports 800-volt fast charging.

The new Cayenne complements the brand's lineup, which retains combustion engine and plug-in hybrid versions. The electric variant starts at €105,200 in Germany. These new 2026 models demonstrate Porsche's strategy of combining electric drive with traditional technologies.
