Updated BMW M5 Touring debuts in 2027 with Neue Klasse design and hybrid power
Discover the 2028 BMW M5 Touring: a 727 hp plug-in hybrid wagon with Neue Klasse styling, 100 km electric range, and advanced tech. Set for spring 2027 debut.
BMW continues testing the updated M5 Touring. A prototype was spotted during winter trials in Sweden. The model is set to debut in spring 2027, with sales starting in autumn as a 2028 model year version.
The facelift introduces the new Neue Klasse design language. The wagon features narrower headlights, a redesigned radiator grille with flatter "nostrils," and updated rear light graphics. The front bumper includes large air intakes and a prominent spoiler.
Inside, there's a panoramic instrument panel and an 18-inch touchscreen with the iDrive X system and a refreshed interface.
Technically, the model retains a plug-in hybrid setup with a 4.4-liter V8 biturbo engine. Despite adaptations for Euro 7 standards, total power remains at 727 hp. The car comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission and the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, which includes a rear-wheel-drive mode. The electric range reaches up to 100 km.
This update strengthens BMW's position in the sports car segment for 2026 and beyond, blending practicality with high performance.
