Leapmotor B05 hatchback: electric model details and European launch plans

Leapmotor is preparing to launch the B05 hatchback in the European market. The model will debut in the Netherlands in 2026 alongside the B03X crossover. In China, the B05 is marketed under the name Lafa 5.

The base version of the Leapmotor B05 features an electric motor producing 218 horsepower and a battery capacity of either 56.2 or 67.1 kWh. A sportier variant is also planned. According to China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, this version delivers 245 horsepower, which is only 28 horsepower more than the standard model.

For context, competitors in the electric hot hatch segment offer significantly higher performance figures. The MG 4 X-Power develops 435 horsepower, while the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N can reach up to 650 horsepower.

The Leapmotor B05 has a curb weight of 1,750 kg, with a top speed electronically limited to 170 km/h. This new model is among the 2026 vehicles the Chinese brand aims to introduce to the European market in the near future.
