Jeep Grand Cherokee recall due to rear suspension issue
Chrysler recalls 80,620 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L SUVs for a rear suspension defect that could cause spring detachment, increasing accident risk. Owners advised to check VINs and schedule free repairs.
Chrysler has announced a recall of 80,620 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L SUVs in the United States due to a rear suspension defect. According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) obtained by 32CARS.Ru, some vehicles may have rear coil springs that were installed incorrectly, which could cause them to detach while driving.
The recall affects Jeep Grand Cherokee L models from 2021 to 2023, as well as standard Grand Cherokee models from 2022 to 2023. If a spring detaches, vehicle stability and handling deteriorate sharply, directly increasing the risk of an accident, especially at high speeds or on rough roads.
Notably, this recall effectively replaces a previous campaign numbered 23V413. Even vehicles that have already been repaired under the previous recall must return to dealerships for an updated fix. This suggests that the initial measures were insufficient.
As part of the new recall, Jeep dealers will inspect the rear suspension and, if necessary, repair or replace the spring mounting components. All work will be performed free of charge. Warning letters to owners will begin mailing on February 12, 2026, with a final solution involving full repairs expected in March.
VIN numbers for affected vehicles are already available for checking on the NHTSA website. FCA emphasizes that operating vehicles with potentially defective suspension can be dangerous, so owners are advised not to delay visiting a service center.
