The 2025 Genesis GV80 has undergone rigorous testing by Consumer Reports, which compiled a reliability ranking for passenger vehicles in its class. According to the results, this crossover ranks among the least reliable models of the current generation. Out of eleven vehicles in its segment, it placed second-to-last, only ahead of the Mercedes-Benz GLE, which finished at the bottom of the list.

Problem Areas

Consumer Reports experts identified electronics glitches as the most significant shortcomings. These issues raise serious concerns for potential buyers and owners, as the quality of electronic components directly impacts driving comfort and safety.

On a positive note, other key components like the powertrain, transmission, braking system, and climate control received favorable evaluations. They demonstrated high reliability and durability, earning praise from the experts.

Genesis in the Overall Brand Rankings

Genesis was also analyzed separately in the broader reliability rankings for automotive brands. It landed in 21st place out of 26 possible positions, placing well below many popular competitors.

Previous GV80 Generations

The most reliable version in the lineup is the 2024 Genesis GV80, which secured a respectable seventh place in its segment. For earlier model years, the picture was much bleaker: the 2023, 2022, and 2021 versions consistently showed low reliability, regularly earning poor scores from experts.
