Tesla robotaxi expansion plans for 2024
Tesla announces rapid robotaxi expansion to 7 US cities in 2024, including Dallas and Miami, with nearly 700,000 paid miles driven since launch.
Tesla has confirmed plans for rapid expansion of its Robotaxi program in the United States. The company shared this information during its quarterly earnings call and provided details in a presentation to shareholders.
Currently, the service operates in Austin, Texas, and in the San Francisco Bay Area. Documents note that the Bay Area service uses a Safety Driver mode, while Austin is designated as Ramping Unsupervised.
In the first half of the year, Tesla aims to launch Robotaxi in seven additional cities: Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, and Las Vegas. The company had previously mentioned Las Vegas, Phoenix, Dallas, and Houston, with Orlando and Tampa added more recently. This suggests an accelerated timeline.
Tesla also reported that since the program's launch in June of last year, it has accumulated nearly 700,000 paid miles for Robotaxi.
