BMW announces 2026 model updates with enhanced electric crossovers
BMW's spring 2026 updates include SiC inverters for iX1 and iX2, improving range by 40 km, plus new charging and colors for iX3 and emissions tech for M models.
BMW has announced updates to its model lineup for spring 2026. The company revealed that the electric crossovers iX1 eDrive20, iX1 xDrive30, iX2 eDrive20, and iX2 xDrive30 will receive power electronics with silicon carbide components (SiC inverters). This change is expected to boost efficiency and reduce energy consumption in the WLTP combined cycle. As a result, the iX1's range will increase by approximately 40 km, with similar improvements claimed for the iX2.
The iX3 will also see updates. It will gain an optional "AC-Laden Professional" feature, enabling AC charging at up to 22 kW. Alongside this, a Vehicle-to-Load function will be introduced, allowing the car to power external electrical devices with a capacity of up to 3.7 kW. Additionally, the iX3 will be offered in three new body colors.
Meanwhile, BMW M is adapting the M5 and XM Label to meet new emissions standards set to take effect in the EU from 2027. The updated technology will debut on the M5 in March 2026 and on the XM Label in April.
