Mercedes GLC Special Edition 140: Anniversary model details
Explore the Mercedes GLC Special Edition 140, celebrating 140 years since the first car. Features diesel and PHEV powertrains, exclusive equipment, and Italian market availability.
Mercedes is marking 140 years since the Patent Motorwagen, the first car that changed history, debuted in 2026. To celebrate this milestone, the brand's Italian division has launched a special series: the GLC Special Edition 140. This anniversary crossover features expanded equipment and an exclusive configuration for the local market.
Equipment and powertrain options
The special series is available with two diesel powertrains: the 197-hp 220 d 4Matic and the 333-hp 300 de 4Matic plug-in hybrid. The latter combines a 2.0-liter diesel engine with an electric motor and a 31.2 kWh battery, offering up to 122 km of electric range—a notable figure for PHEV crossovers in this segment.
Anniversary styling and series highlights
The GLC Special Edition 140 comes with an extended equipment list. This includes 20-inch wheels, AMG Line and Night packages, Digital Light matrix headlights, an AMG Line sport interior with nappa-look decorative trim, heated front seats, ambient lighting, smartphone induction charging, fingerprint recognition, and a full suite of parking assistants. According to Mercedes, the total value of these features adds up to around €14,000.
Financing options
Italian customers have two purchase options. For the diesel version on credit, it requires 35 payments of €540 with an initial deposit of €14,072. The PHEV version changes only the deposit amount to €16,348.
For leasing, the base diesel version is priced at 35 payments of €690 and a first payment of €14,741. For the hybrid, the figures are €695 and €16,348, respectively.
Mercedes has used the 140-year milestone to create a prestigious, well-equipped anniversary GLC series that highlights the blend of tradition and premium style. While the model is exclusive to Italy, this approach shows how historical heritage becomes part of the brand's marketing—and a way to stand out in a crowded segment.
