Toyota is expanding its electric lineup with the new bZ Woodland, an extended version of its electric SUV. The model offers more space, 375 horsepower, and standard all-wheel drive, but its price raises questions: it's $5,305 more expensive than the nearly identical Subaru Trailseeker.

New bZ Woodland Format and Price Discrepancy

Toyota has priced the base bZ Woodland at $46,750, while Subaru asks $41,445 for the Trailseeker. Both crossovers are built on the same architecture, use the same dual-motor setup, and share the same 67 kWh battery. The price difference looks particularly odd given their technical similarity. Preliminary range estimates also differ: Toyota claims 260 miles, while Subaru states 280 miles.

Trim Options and Potential Differences

Toyota offers two trims: base and Premium for $48,850. Subaru starts with a Premium version and also has Limited and Touring trims available.

The world's largest automaker hasn't released a full equipment list yet, so differences in features might partly explain the price gap. Still, the cars remain twins in technical terms.

Two-Brand Strategy and Practical Buyer Choice

Toyota traditionally positions its EVs as more premium products, but in this case, Subaru wins on value for money. With the cars being so similar in all key parameters, buyers would be wise to visit both dealerships and compare actual offers, ownership costs, and options.
