Genesis aims for 650% sales growth in Europe with Magma models

Genesis plans to boost European sales by 650% in five years with its Magma lineup, including the 650-hp GV60 Magma EV. Learn about their strategy and new models.

Genesis has announced plans to increase its European sales by 650% over the next five years. At the same time, the brand aims to boost its sporty image with the Magma lineup, which will serve as the top-tier version for every model in its range, regardless of powertrain type.

The Magma sub-brand was launched late last year to mark Genesis's 10th anniversary. Since its inception, the brand has sold nearly 1.5 million vehicles. Currently, Genesis sells around 225,000 cars annually, with a target to raise that figure to 350,000 by 2035. A significant portion of this growth is expected to come from the European market.

Creative Director Luc Donckerwolke noted that Genesis originally planned to go fully electric from 2025, but has since adjusted its strategy. He cited Euro 7 requirements and a limited model lineup in Europe as reasons, while emphasizing that Genesis intends to introduce new products and expand its geographic presence.

One of the key new models will be the GV60 Magma: a dual-motor electric car with 650 horsepower, capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and reaching a top speed of 164 mph. Genesis also confirmed that the Magma GT Concept will enter production as a mid-engine model, including a track-focused version.
