Expedition Motor Company's 620GE restomod Mercedes G-Class
Explore the Expedition Motor Company's 620GE, a restomod based on a 1990s military Mercedes-Benz G-Class with a 6.2L LS3 V8 engine, starting at $252,000.
The Expedition Motor Company (EMC), an American workshop based in Frenchtown, New Jersey, offers a restomod called the 620GE based on a 1990s military Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Founded in 2017, the company specializes in restoring 250GD models, including the open-top version known from German military service.
This project involves installing a 6.2-liter V8 LS3 engine. According to EMC, this engine can produce between 350 and 430 horsepower. The build starts at $252,000, and with options, the final price can exceed $270,000. The timeline from order to delivery ranges from six to eight months.
EMC states it can only build two vehicles per month. Each project requires about 2,500 hours of work: the donor vehicle is completely disassembled and stripped down to bare metal before being reassembled. Customers cannot bring their own G-Class—the workshop sources vehicles from selected suppliers, including European armed forces.
Available options include a fully soft top with plastic rear windows, as well as off-road equipment like a winch and a bull bar.
