Ford Australia has initiated a recall covering 278 E-Transit electric vans built between 2021 and 2025.

The recall targets a potential fault in the ventilation of the 12-volt battery. Due to manufacturing errors, the system may not operate as intended, a problem that can be especially acute in hot weather. If ventilation is compromised, toxic gases released by the battery could seep into the cabin.

That scenario poses a health risk to occupants, with exposure capable of causing poisoning and other harmful effects. It’s the sort of low-visibility issue that warrants swift attention.

Ford will notify all affected owners. The notices direct customers to contact an authorized dealer for a complimentary inspection and repair to correct the defect. The work will be carried out at no charge.
