Ford Explorer and Capri get upgraded battery and more power
Ford has enhanced its electric Explorer and Capri models with a 58 kWh battery and 190 hp motor, boosting range to 444 km and 464 km at unchanged prices.
Ford has updated the entry-level versions of its electric Explorer and Capri in Standard Range RWD configuration. The models now feature a new battery and a more powerful electric motor, while prices remain unchanged.
Previously, the base Explorer and Capri were equipped with a 52 kWh battery and a 170 hp electric motor. They now receive a 58 kWh battery and a 190 hp motor with 350 Nm of torque. This power increase has improved the 0-100 km/h acceleration time: both models now achieve it in 8 seconds, down from 8.7 seconds.
The key improvement is the increased range. The Ford Explorer Standard Range RWD has boosted its range from 378 km to 444 km, a gain of 66 km. The Ford Capri Standard Range RWD now travels 464 km instead of 393 km, marking a 71 km increase. Fast-charging specifications for the new versions have not yet been detailed.
For buyers, this update is significant because it delivers more capability at no extra cost. Both models also gain standard features including V2L (Vehicle to Load) functionality, one-pedal driving, and traffic light recognition.
Pricing stays the same. In Europe, the Ford Explorer Standard Range RWD starts from €38,950 (approximately 3.53 million rubles), while the Capri Standard Range RWD starts from €40,850 (approximately 3.7 million rubles at the current exchange rate).
