JMEV 01 electric sports car: lightweight and high-performance

A new electric two-seater sports car is coming to Europe—the JMEV 01, also known as the SSC SC01. Already on sale in China, this model is now preparing for a limited European launch of just 1,000 units. Pricing has not yet been announced.

The SC01 began as a project by the tuning company Tianjin Gongjiang Pai Auto Technology and was later brought to market by the Chinese firm JMEV. The coupe measures 4.11 meters in length and stands just 1.17 meters tall. With a weight of 1,365 kg, it is significantly lighter than the MG Cyberster, which weighs around 1,850 kg.

The car is built around a lightweight tubular frame and features a push-rod suspension with magnesium alloy wheels. Power comes from an NMC battery with a capacity of about 60 kWh, paired with two electric motors. Combined output reaches 435 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque.

It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, with a claimed WLTC range of 435 km. Given the scarcity of affordable electric two-seaters, the SC01 could emerge as one of the most notable sports cars of 2026.
