Lucid to launch new crossovers and SUVs, no sedan expansion planned
Lucid Motors announces no sedan expansion, focusing on new mid-class platform for crossovers and SUVs starting in 2026. Learn about upcoming models and pricing.
American automaker Lucid has no plans to expand its sedan lineup. Interim CEO Mark Winterhoff stated at CES 2026 that the new mid-class platform will support three body types, but a traditional four-door model is not among them. He explained that the sedan segment is not a priority for the company.
The first new vehicle on this architecture will be a crossover aimed at competing with the Tesla Model Y. It is expected to debut in 2026, with production starting in 2027. After that, two more vehicles will follow: at least one will be an SUV. The second model is planned for release within a year of the first, and the third should arrive about 18 months later, with the latter set to be the most significant step forward in terms of updates.
Lucid also pointed to weak sales of its Air sedan compared to the new Gravity SUV, which already accounts for the majority of deliveries. Future models will remain premium but target the mass market—these new 2026 vehicles are expected to start around $50,000 before taxes. The company intends to begin platform assembly in Saudi Arabia by late 2026 or in 2027.
