Alpine A290 Rallye: first all-electric rally car for the A290 Trophy
Alpine unveils the A290 Rallye, its first all-electric rally car for customer teams: 220 hp, front diff, 100 kW fast charge, built for the A290 Trophy.
French brand Alpine has unveiled its first all-electric rally car, the A290 Rallye, based on the A290. Aimed at customer teams, it will join the new Alpine A290 Trophy racing series set to begin in November.
The A290 Rallye is equipped with a 220 hp electric motor delivering 300 Nm to the front wheels through a self-locking differential. A 100 kW feed brings the battery from 20 to 80 percent in under 30 minutes. Braking is handled by six-piston front calipers and a hydraulic handbrake adapted to FIA eRally5 requirements. On paper the output may look restrained, yet the mechanical diff and rally-ready brake setup hint at a car tuned for traction and precision rather than headline numbers.
The body has been reinforced for rally stages, and the suspension is fully adjustable. Inside, the cockpit is all business: Sabelt racing seats, six-point harnesses, and a digital instrument cluster. The specification reads cohesive, the sort of package that tends to feel lively on tight, technical sections.
The model has covered more than 3,000 km of testing and is set to compete in six rounds of the French championship in 2026. Taken together, the ingredients suggest the A290 Rallye could become one of the standout performance cars of 2026, combining an electric powertrain with the classic Alpine sense of dynamics.
